Going Places
Gallerist Monique Meloche looks back at the MCA's recent exhibitions.
The Kerry James Marshall show blew everybody's mind last year. Like the fact that that originated here and went on to the venues that it did—I mean it, went to the Met for goodness sake. As did—and then the Doris Salcedo show traveled to [the Guggenheim]. So it's pretty incredible, I think, how it's grown up into understanding that the MCA does play on this global playing field, and it did start out as this small little non-collecting kunsthalle and has grown into a massively collecting and lending institution that is solely devoted to contemporary art, which I think is terrific and the city needs it.
